How a divergent website helped a political candidate connect with young voters.
Before her victory at the polls, Taiwo Oluga was a Special Adviser to a former Governor. Now, She is an elected member of the federal house of representatives, handily defeating her opponent by 4,920 votes. How did Taiwo connect with young voters online?
Taiwo Oluga is a confident, soft-spoken politician with a genuine desire to use the instrument of office to make the society a better place for Nigerians to live in. She seemed to dislike one thing in particular: photo shoots. When her team reached out to us to create her campaign website, we requested for specific high definition pictures, except there was none.
There was no single place you could get comprehensive information about Taiwo Oluga’s person and plans. Beyond her social media presence, She needed a one-stop shop where electorates seeking information about her could get it all, at once, and straight from the source.
Like any marketing program, an effective political campaign has to achieve specific goals. For Taiwo Oluga, this was connecting directly to young voters (who were a clear majority) through online channels.
Using our extensive portfolio of websites and available evidence, we successfully convinced her that it was in her best interest to take a new set of photos complete with specific poses and attire to match. We argued that this could help portray her as a champion for the people and a friend of the masses. In response, Taiwo Oluga hit the photo studio and gave the entire campaign stunning imagery, showcasing her candidacy in the best possible light.
Next, we designed an attention grabbing header that functioned more like a landing page. This enabled the campaign gather emails from passionate supporters. The rest of the home page as well as the remaining pages oozed class, even the cursor got a major makeover.
