Startup Techpreneur Surviving the competition

Every day we have more startups in the field of Technology, the competition is getting stiffer, and surviving is getting harder. Right amidst these competitions, there you are. The ambitious young blood looking to make waves in the tech market.

Today, I’m going to share with you 5 key values for survival in this field.

1. Set Your Goals

The first thing you need to do is define your goals, ask yourself, “Why am I doing this?”  Are you starting for the profit? Or it’s because everyone else is doing it, maybe yours is for the fame, or you’re bent on making an actual change by solving problems. A clearly stated goal sets a proper direction and that helps keep the dream alive.

2. Get The Skills

You can’t become an accountant without understanding accountancy. The same principle applies to being a businessman. How well can you sell yourself? Are you capable of keeping your team motivated and willing to go forward working with you? Do you have an elevator pitch? These are basic skills that will help you as a startup Techpreneur.

3. Learn To Prioritize

Achieving great heights come at a price. To do something great, you have to be willing to make a lot of sacrifices, but this is difficult to accept for most people. Prioritizing allows you to identify the most important tasks at any moment and give those tasks more of your attention, energy, and time. In so doing, you get to spend more time on the right things and this is a good way to ensure that deadlines are met and stress is minimized.  Making a list of the tasks or items you need to complete is a good way to get started.

4. Be Stubborn And Persistent

The first hurdle to get through is yourself. Entrepreneur and motivational speaker Jim Rohn once said, “If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.” Highly persistent people know it’s very difficult to stay continually motivated, particularly during difficult times and when it appears that no progress is being made. They rely upon their self-discipline and develop habits they can count on to help them continue down the path toward their eventual goals.

5. Combine Determination and Discipline

Failure and doubt are inevitable. Most especially when you’re a startup trying to find your place in the market. The question is how will you deal with them when they come?

Determined people are fueled by failures, not discouraged by them. When faced with failure, determined people are committed to finding out what they did wrong, and then taking corrective action. Discipline requires energy. Getting needed rest, exercising regularly and proper nutrition make discipline easier to wear. You will not only find it easier to stay focused, have more energy, but your tasks will seem less strenuous and more enjoyable.
